We’re pleased to have supported Barn to Box with a Transport Technical Note to accompany proposals for the conversion of a former poultry building at Stretton Hall Farm, Clay Cross.
Following concerns raised regarding the potential highway and bridleway impacts of the proposed development, we were instructed to undertake a detailed assessment and provide a robust evidence base to address these matters.
Our assessment demonstrated that the proposed self-storage use would generate only a modest level of traffic, with vehicle movements significantly lower in intensity than those historically associated with the agricultural use of the site.
By carefully analysing the evidence and challenging assumptions where appropriate, we were able to demonstrate that the proposal would not result in an unacceptable impact on highway safety or the local transport network.
Projects like this highlight the importance of proportionate, evidence led planning and the role it plays in bringing redundant rural buildings back into productive use.
